“We do serious work, and are in essence responsible for the safety of a very large number of people. We balance this responsibility with a very “human” work environment that allows us to excel while fostering the relationships we have with our clients and with each other.”

John Miller, B. Sc. (C.E.) P. Eng.
Since 1980, John has developed expertise in the areas of structural design and assessment. His opinion is often called upon by the insurance industry and by the legal profession as an expert witness.
"Engineering is my greatest source of enjoyment. No matter how small or large a project, it seems that the process, people and outcome always keep me wanting more."

George Graham, C.E.T.
As the partner responsible for office production, George is also involved in the management of large projects and services as a peer reviewer of projects on a day-to-day basis.
“I started in my career over 30 years ago because I wanted to design structures and it is still satisfying to do that every day. Getting involved in the nuts and bolts of structural design continues to be rewarding just as it is energizing to work with people who continually strive for excellence.”

Rob O'Toole, B. Sc. General, B. Sc.(C.E.), P. Eng.
A member of the firm since 1985, Rob manages larger projects, routinely works with the insurance industry in the assessment of structures and maintains a well-developed expertise in foundation issues.
“My initiation into the construction industry was as a summer labourer with a large foundation contractor, an experience that sparked a genuine interest in engineering and the challenge it brings. This has not waned with time, but rather, has only grown stronger.”

John Wells, M. Sc., (C.E.) P. Eng.
Over nearly 20 years with the firm, John has developed specific expertise combined with extensive experience in building science, building material failures, analysis of structural deterioration or duress, remediation design and peer review. John is currently working on his doctoral degree.
“The ability to analyze and solve problems does not occur through happenstance; it requires the continual pursuit of knowledge.”

Tom K. Malkiewicz, C.I.M., P. Eng., LEED AP

Tom specializes in the design and management of large and/or complex projects and, since joining the firm in 1993, has brought a high level of expertise to the process of design and project delivery.
“I feel very proud when I look around the city and see all the structures that we have had a part in developing. The process of designing these buildings and turning a client’s vision into reality gives me a great sense of accomplishment.”

Derek J. Mizak, B.Sc. (C.E.), P.Eng
Since 1997, Derek has specialized in the restoration of existing structures from initial assessment and design of remedial measures through to the completion of construction.
“The nature of the structural restoration field brings a unique set of challenges and an endless variety of projects to which I am able to apply engineering principles. The diversity of the projects, the challenges that arise, the ability to solve problems and the clients and colleagues that I work with all provide a great deal of personal satisfaction and motivation.”

Ryan Morphy, M.Sc. (C.E.), MBA, P.Eng.

Ryan joined the firm in 1998, and has since applied himself to new construction projects as well as to the challenges of transforming and reinforcing older buildings for fresh purposes. He has also conducted and managed an ongoing series of structural assessments of buildings across Canada.
“I’m a proud supporter of Winnipeg and take the greatest level of satisfaction in playing a role in the building, development and enhancement of our city around us.”
