Building Envelope

Cladding
Cladding is the application of a weatherproof layer, often decorative as well as functional, which is intended to manage the infiltration of weather elements (heat, air and moisture) into and out of the building structure.

Although typically non-structural, cladding systems are complex components fashioned from various materials such as stone, terra cotta, clay brick, concrete, aluminum and glass. Each type of cladding has particular specifications requiring an understanding of the environmental conditions the material must perform under. It is imperative that cladding is suitably chosen, properly installed, and appropriately repaired, if and when necessary.

Crosier Kilgour & Partners is able to work with existing cladding systems or to consult with architects on new cladding system designs. Through continual research, testing, computer modelling and our own in-house expertise, we have also designed conventional and non-conventional building envelope systems in order to provide durable and cost-effective wall system solutions.
