Building Envelope
Fenestration
Fenestration refers to any opening in the building envelope, including windows, doors and skylights. The most common foundation elements are glazing systems including curtain wall, window walls and conventional window systems. Whether planning a new building or replacing and upgrading existing window systems, the accurate design of advanced glazing systems requires a comprehensive knowledge of the relevant building codes and design standards.

Crosier Kilgour & Partners utilizes in-house analysis tools such as thermal and moisture analysis software to determine the appropriate level of performance for a wall system, whether constructed of aluminum, fibreglass, PVC or wood. Such analysis is required to provide a suitable balance on performance without compromising the interior environment. For example, the fenestration design requirements for an art gallery would substantially differ from those in a residential apartment complex.

In addition, commissioning provides an integral component to the design and installation process. Our in-house equipment facilitates quantification of air leakage and wind-drive rain penetration using our calibrated spray rack assembly. This confirms that the system installation meets the specified requirements.
