55 Nassau: Window System Replacement

  • Challenge: Existing window system plagued by water penetration.
  • Solution: Designed a new high-performance window-wall and window replacement program, resulting in significant reductions in air leakage, water penetration and improved occupant comfort.
University of Manitoba Buller Building: Window Replacement

  • Challenge: Existing windows on this 80-year-old building required replacement; windows had to meet current Code requirements yet not compromise the architectural heritage of the building.
  • Solution: Designed a dual lite vertical slider in anodized aluminum. Prior to delivery and installation, specifications required independent testing of a specific site window, which confirmed a deficiency in the original manufacturing process. This testing ensured the replacement windows met project specifications and prevention of future water penetration.
Manitoba Housing Authority: Replacement of Window Systems

  • Challenge: Replacement of existing windows in residential complexes.
  • Solution: Analysis and design of new window systems combined with ongoing verification of window system performance.
Newport Centre: Curtain Wall Remediation Program

  • Challenge: 18-storey office building plagued with air leakage and wind-driven rain penetration. Detailed field investigation confirmed numerous “holes” in the wall systems and undersized glazing units not able to meet Code wind loads.
  • Solution: After analyzing replacement versus remediation, remediation deemed most cost-effective measure. High performance glazing with low solar heat gain coefficient used to defer replacement of existing chiller.
