Materials Analysis
Crosier Kilgour & Partners are routinely involved in the investigation of a wide range of material failures. Where more standard or conventional analysis methods, such as soundings or visual examination, are deemed individually insufficient, our team has training and experience in the use of scanning electron microscopy in order to accurately identify the causes and extent of the deterioration.

The use of microscopy has proven to be invaluable in determining the causes of deterioration to concrete and masonry structures. The microscope is equipped with an energy-dispersive x-ray analyzer which enables the detection of elemental composition of any damaging by-products in the matrix of the material being analyzed.

Due to the high cost of operation and maintenance, Crosier Kilgour & Partners has an agreement which allows us to use this equipment on loan from the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Manitoba.
