At the Red River College, Princess Street project, Crosier Kilgour & Partners
designed the system to support the five historic (1882-1898) facades during demolition
of the original buildings and construction of the new. The buttress system, its
foundation, and the underpinning/reinforcement of the facades incorporated 75
tons of structural steel and over 400 cubic yards of concrete. All of the structural
steel was re-used in the framing of subsequent campus buildings, and 70% of the
concrete was reused by incorporating it as part of the permanent support of the
facades.
