Restoration
Balcony
Balcony structures present a unique set of design and restoration challenges as a results of the logistical difficulties associated with access for investigation and repair.

Crosier Kilgour & Partners has completed numerous investigations and restorations of balcony structures throughout Manitoba. As with any structural investigation, the most important first step is determining the source of the duress and the cause for deterioration. Our approach is to identify and correct the root cause of the problem, rather than merely managing symptoms; this is reflected in our investigation methods and restoration designs.

We have assessed and restored a wide variety of balcony structures incorporating all types of structural systems, including:

  • wood and glulam framed;
  • steel framed;
  • cast-in-place concrete (conventionally reinforced and post-tensioned); and
  • precast concrete.
