$4M restoration of a 260-stall interior parkade connecting two residential apartment buildings.

Hampton Green; 323 Wellington Crescent: $2M restoration of a green roof constructed of cast-in-place concrete over top of an existing interior parking structure.

  • Remove of all existing landscaping.
  • Conduct extensive structural repairs to the existing structure.
  • Install new waterproofing membrane and landscaping, including a 110-foot long continuous water feature.

120 Niakwa Road;
$1M restoration of a green roof constructed of precast concrete overlying an interior parking structure.

  • Remove of all existing landscaping, wood shed structures, decks, and stairs.

21/41 Clayton Drive: $2M balcony restoration includes the repair of 355 concrete/steel-framed balcony structures in the two building complex.

  • Apply traffic-bearing waterproofing membrane to protect the balcony structures from further moisture ingress to extend life expectancy.
  • Replace existing balcony guard rails with new pre-fabricated aluminum guardrails.

Health Sciences Center Parkade Maintenance Repairs: Since 1992, Crosier Kilgour & Partners has directed the ongoing, multi-discipline monitoring and maintenance program at the five structural parkades at the Health Sciences Centre.

  • Develop a maintenance program consisting of an annual review to identify and address deficiencies and deterioration.
  • Direct repairs on an annual basis (costs of up to $1M/year)

170 McDermot Avenue Parking Structure Restoration: $3M multi-year restoration of a 1960’s-era cast-in-place concrete parking structure.

  • Remove of the most highly chloride-contaminated concrete from the top surface of the structure, employing roto-milling techniques.
  • Replace all existing top reinforcing steel followed by the installation of a silica-fume modified bonded concrete overlay.
  • Complete improvements to drainage.

Place Louis Riel Parking Structure Restoration: $3M multi-year restoration of the steel-and concrete-framed parking structure.

  • Technical and logistical challenges include unconventional concrete deck on steel-joist construction; located directly over the lobby and main floor banquet halls.

Health Sciences Centre J-Parkade Reconstruction: $2M reconstruction of an existing steel framed, composite concrete deck parking structure.

  • Retain existing steel frame as part of restoration. 
  • Replace existing concrete deck with a new deck incorporating silica-fume modified concrete, a corrosion inhibitor and epoxy-coated reinforcing steel to improve long-term durability.

Crosier Kilgour & Partners was the structural design consultant for this major project on behalf of the Health Sciences Centre. The Health Sciences Centre's Emily Street Parkade is a six level, open-air precast concrete structure with the capacity for 1,100 cars. It is serviced by four structural steel stairwells and two elevators with an underground link to the rest of the facility. The firm’s responsibilities included the specification of the design and performance criteria for the precast concrete parkade as well as overseeing the quality control management of the facility.

In addition, Crosier Kilgour & Partners were the structural designers of record for the underground pedestrian tunnel system which links the parkade to the Health Sciences Centre.
