The firm’s responsibilities included the structural design of all the below-grade elements including the foundations, event-level framing and concourse level framing. In addition, the firm was responsible for the structural design of the pre-cast seating, and all four overhead pedestrian bridges to the arena. The arena’s bowl seating area is a combination of cast-in-place concrete and precast concrete. The roof structure is constructed from steel trusses.
Construction of the MTS Centre commenced in 2003 on the former site of the Eaton's Building, which was demolished the previous year. Crosier Kilgour & Partners were called upon to act as structural consultants during the building demolition process.
